It is important to us that our residents can continue to enjoy the activities and lifestyle that they always have and have the opportunity to experience new activities and interests with the support of our inclusive community setting.

Our homes offer a wide variety of activities, clubs and lifestyle choices that are tailored to individual needs and residents are free to choose as many as they wish.

Our Care Team ensure that regular favourites are punctuated with new experiences, so throughout the week there are always things to do. Activities can vary from a relaxing afternoon tea and arts and crafts to gardening, cooking, exercise classes, a visit from the local farm or outings to local places of interest.

Every year residents are invited to take part in preparing our gardens. This is something that our residents greatly enjoy and our gardens are equipped with raised planters to help make gardening that little bit easier.

Most of our care homes offer a range of beautifully designed facilities that enable residents to maintain those important routines and interests they have always enjoyed. So within our inclusive, supportive environments, residents can maintain that weekly hair and nail appointment they cherish in one of our hair salons, relax and sooth away any aches and pains in one of our luxurious therapy rooms and enjoy those old favourite films in one of our state-of-the-art cinemas. Some of our homes even have a corner shop, so that residents can still collect the morning paper. Residents and their family and friends can also enjoy fresh coffee and homemade cakes in one of our friendly, vibrant cafe’s.

Dementia Clinic

Belmont Healthcare – Additional Services Launch/Dementia Clinic

In 2014 Belmont Healthcare took the decision to launch new value added services to bring continuity of care to its services offered to those dealing with Dementia from the elderly to their carers.

Belmont Healthcare was established in 1991 and has built a strong reputation in Kent and East Sussex in offering quality Residential care for those with Dementia. Now additional services have been developed to help widen the reach of services and run in line with the local authorities plan to improve the continuity of care. With the recent registration to offer personal care in the home has meant that their experience in this field now stretches to those needing support in their own homes.

Existing and new services users can now gain access to unique services they have introduced; by launching a dementia clinic on a monthly basis. The clinic offers support to carers and family members who want to gain a better understanding of support for their loved ones. The clinic gives a confidential environment in which to discuss concerns, confusions our just a listening ear, which can help the development of continued relationships with those concerned.

The follow up for these clinics comes in the form of outcomes and evaluations for future communication helping breakdown manners using proven techniques inline with our in house Dementia Consultant Pat Brown. The clinic helps with engagement through items such as “This is your life book” which has had a profound effect.

This clinic is then followed up with a reminiscence group programme ran over 6 weeks taking in the initial findings from the clinic in a shared like minded environment.

I found the clinic you kindly organised to very valuable, I even felt I would benefit from another session as time passed so quickly when trying to cover such an emotional subject, its only after the event you realise there is so many other things you would like to discuss, so valuable and supportive, Many Thanks to you and your service”
